Your gonna love what mayonnaise does for your hair!  

Many of us are guilty of paying over $100 at a beauty salon for a scalp deep conditioner.  We’ve all done it. 

Why pay money when you can give yourself some TLC at home without deducting from your wallet.  And to help save even more money, use ingredients in the kitchen. 

Luckily, its an easy treatment which makes your hair shine, feel smoother and softer.  I’d say get rid of that frizz too!  

So, the simple ingredients are mayonnaise and eggs.  You can make your own mayonnaise at home and add the additional ingredients. Using organic is even better!  The eggs are rich in protein which help strengthen and thicken hair.  Unlike the chemical thickeners normally used in salons, eggs keep the hair’s natural oils intact which results in less breakage.  The yolk specifically cuts through grease and dirt found in the hair to make it clean.  It’s best used on hair that is thinning, damaged by heat stylers and coloring.  Eggs work very well with mayonnaise, as they seal the cuticle to lock in moisture and make the results last long.  Pretty cool right?

If you have coarse hair lacking shine, add a splash of olive oil or apple cider vinegar.

This is the recipe:

Pour 1 cup of mayonnaise into a bowl and add 3 egg yolks.  Whisk them together until its blended.  Its best to mix the treatment by hand to avoid turning it into a liquid that won’t adhere to your hair.  As mentioned, you can add olive oil or apple cider vinegar for that extra shine.

Add the mixture to your hands and put it on your hair and scalp as though its a conditioner.  Coat your entire scalp and hair.  Put a shower cap or plastic over your hair, heat up a towel in the dryer and wrap it around the plastic or cap.  The heat helps the moisture soak into your hair.  I’d say leave the conditioner on for about 20 minutes then put a tiny amount of shampoo onto the roots of your hair with your fingertips and rinse your hair completely with warm water.  Dry towel your ends gently and style your hair.  

I would suggest you do the treatment once or twice a week.  If you don’t mind the mess, and your hair is really dry and dehydrated you can leave the cap with treatment on your hair all night and shampoo/rinse in the morning.  

With any treatment always make sure you are hydrated, eat healthy foods and try to avoid washing your hair everyday.
